MILL CONVERSION -
Located in Prince Albert, this project (Prince Albert Pulp Mill) estimated at approx. $200 000 000 is in the planning stage. It is slated to be completed in the second quarter of 2012. The Initiator intends to buy and upgrade an idled pulp mill. Works will include the upgrade and restart of feedstock receiving and handling, pulping, dewatering and cogeneration equipment; the upgrade or replacement of digester and purification equipment; as well as the purchase and installation of acid hydrolysis, alkaline purification, acid recovery, and other process, electrical and mechanical equipment and systems. The facility will produce up to 300 000 metric tons-per-year of dissolving pulp for viscose textile applications. 200 to 250 long-term jobs and hundreds of indirect jobs will be created.
